1) Sachin Tendulkar unveils autobiography Playing It My Way: Sachin Tendulkar's much-awaited autobiography Playing It My Way was launched on Wednesday in the presence of some of his former teammates, celebrities and family members at a ceremony in Mumbai. The book, the first copy of which he gave to his mother Rajni earlier in the day, was unveiled by Tendulkar himself amid thundering applause by the gathering. 

2) PM Narendra Modi ranks 15 in Forbes' World's Most Powerful list: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5 Nov 2014 made his debut among the world's most powerful people, ranked 15th on the Forbes list topped by Russian President Vladimir Putin who pipped his United States counterpart Barack Obama for a second year in a row. The list of 72 most powerful people in the world also included the names of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at 36th, ArcelorMittal Chairman and CEO Lakshmi Mittal at 57th and Microsoft's Indian-born CEO Satya Nadella at 64th.

3) Anita Kapur is new CBDT Chairperson: Senior IRS officer Anita Kapur has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex authority of the Income Tax department. Kapur, a 1978-batch officer of the Income Tax cadre, was till now serving as Member (Legislation and Computerisation and Income Tax) in the CBDT. She took over the top charge after her appointment was made by the government as incumbent CBDT Chairman K V Chowdary retired on October 31.

4) Dhoni named captain of ICC’ ‘ODI Team of the Year’: Mahendra Singh Dhoni was on Wednesday named captain of ICC’ ‘ODI Team of the Year’ but none of the Indian players found berth in governing body’s ‘Test Team of the Year’ led by Sri Lankan Angelo Mathews. The ICC cricket committee headed by former India captain Anil Kumble on Wednesday announced the two teams consisting of 12 players each. While 12-member ODI team for performance during 2014 had Dhoni as captain along with his Indian team deputy Virat Kohli and pacer Mohammed Shami in the XI, opener Rohit Sharma has been named as the 12th man.

5) Bhuvneshwar Kumar wins LG People's Choice Award: India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has won this year's People's Choice Award. He now becomes only the fourth cricketer to win this coveted prize after Sachin Tendulkar, who was the first-ever recipient in 2010, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, who won it in 2011 and 2012, and India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who won it last year. Other nominees for this year's award were England women's captain Charlotte Edwards, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews and South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn.

7) Bharti called off Rs 700-cr deal to buy Loop Mobile: Bharti Airtel on Wednesday called off its deal to buy assets and transfer subscribers of Mumbai-based Loop Mobile for Rs 700 crore. The agreement, signed in February, was called off after Loop Mobile did not receive approval from the department of telecommunications (DoT) for the deal. The agreement between Bharti Airtel and Loop Mobile, which offers mobile services in Mumbai, expired on October 31.

India is the social networking site’s largest user base outside the U.S. with over 100 million users.

1) Cabinet clears dissolution of Delhi Assembly: Ending eight months of political uncertainty, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday recommended dissolution of the Delhi Assembly, paving the way for fresh elections. Delhi has been under President’s rule since February. The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave its nod to Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung’s recommendation to dissolve the House. The Cabinet’s decision will now be referred to the President, who will dissolve the Assembly.

2) Mumbai has highest number of Internet users in India: Study: Mumbai has the highest number of Internet users at about 16.4 million in the country which has over 243 million web users, a study has found. The commercial capital of India saw the Internet user base growing to about 16.4 million in October this year from 12 million in the same month last year, the joint study by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB said.

3) Hasmukh Adhia is the new financial services secretary:  In yet another secretary-level change, government today appointed Hasmukh Adhia, a 1981 Gujarat cadre IAS officer, as the new Financial Services Secretary replacing G S Sandhu. Sandhu, a 1980 Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, has been made Chairman of the National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention.

4) Shakuntala Devi's 84th birthday celebrated: Mathematics wizard Shakuntala Devi's 84th birthday was celebrated on 4 Nov 2014. She is dubbed as the world's fastest 'human computer' who made complex mental calculations. Born on November 4, 1929, in Bangalore, to an orthodox priestly Brahmin family Devi had no access to proper schooling and food in her early years. When she was only three, Devi began showing great affinity with numbers. By the time she was five, she became an expert in solving complex mental arithmetic. Credited with solving some frightfully complicated arithmetic problems with apparent ease and astonishing speed, Shakuntala Devi's calculating skills stunned the world throughout the 1970s and 80s. Her sharpness often made sophisticated digital devices seem inadequate. 

5) IPL 2015 to commence on April 8: The Indian Premier League 2015 (IPL 8) will be played from April 8, 2015 to May 24, 2015. The dates for the eighth edition of IPL were announced on its official website, Tuesday afternoon. Along with the 2015 edition, the governing council has also announced the dates for the next two seasons, 2016 and 2017 respectively.  The 2016 edition will be played from 8 April 2016 to 29 May 2016. The IPL 2017 will be played in the April 5, 2017 to May 21, 2017.

6) Commemorative Stamp on Liver Transplant in India released: The Commemorative Postage stamp on Liver Transplantation in India was released on 4 November 2014 by the Department of Posts and Union Ministry of Communications & IT in New Delhi. The patient who had undergone first successful liver transplantation in India in 1998 Sanjay Kandaswamy was also present on the occasion. The release of a commemorative postage stamp acknowledges the progress and milestones achieved by the Indian medical fraternity in the field of Liver transplantation in the span of the last 15 years.

A day after Tendulkar’s revelations that Chappell tried offering him the captaincy at the expense of Dravid barely a few months before the 2007 World Cup, the Australian denied discussing such a possibility with the now retired legend.

1) Mallikarjun Kharge to be on CIC selection panel: Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has been inducted into the three-member selection committee which will select the Chief Information Commissioner. As per file notings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who heads the panel, has nominated Defence Minister Arun Jaitely besides Kharge to the committee. The decision to include Kharge has been taken on the advice of Law Ministry as there was lack of clarity on the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. The RTI Act requires that selection of the Chief Information Commissioner be done by a three-member panel comprising the Prime Minister, who shall be the Chairperson of the committee, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and a Cabinet Minister to be nominated by the Prime Minister.

2) Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar passed away: Veteran actor and social activist Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who was being treated in a hospital in Mumbai over the past few weeks for lung infection, passed away on early Monday morning. He was 64. Amrapurkar made his mark as an actor and director in Marathi theatre and was best known to the national audience for his roles in movies like 'Ardha Satya', 'Sadak', 'Ishq'. His negative characters in number of Hindi movies also made a mark on the viewers.

3) Government to establish Centre for Zoo Sciences soon: Government Monday announced setting up of a Centre for Zoo Sciences to assist recognised Indian zoos as well as zoos in South Asia in their development and management on scientific lines. "We will have a Centre for Zoo Sciences," Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said, adding there will be facilities for teaching, research, experiments and sharing of ideas like in universities. "We are thinking of setting up a Centre for Zoo Sciences in New Delhi to bring about a turn around in the functioning of the zoos and to infuse scientific and technical culture in the present system and make our zoos more visitor friendly," he said.

Singh will be awarded 'The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers' for his "significant contribution to the enhancement of relations and promotion of friendship" between Japan and India for about 35 years, a Japanese Embassy statement said.

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was third for his eighth podium finish on the season.

It also launched the website hindiWeb.com, which shall offer curated content in Hindi.
