To book a ticket in new version you have to click on Proceed for Booking option. Then you will be redirected to the new website.

You can access new eticketing site directly at nget.irctc.co.in

We feel that the site needs more improvement. Hope IRCTC will make the required changes in the days to come. Enjoy booking in new website!!!

Kudankulam nuclear power plant first in the country to reach full capacity of 1000MW

>> The unit 1 of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant (KNPP) has reached full capacity generation of 1000MW on Saturday.

>> The Russian-designed Voda Voda Energo Reactor (VVER) achieved the final milestone nearly eight months after power generated at the plant was connected to the grid.

>> This is the first nuclear power plant in the country to touch 1000MW of power generation.

>. "At exactly 1.20pm on Saturday, power generation in the unit 1 of the plant touched 1000MW. The unit will continue to generate 1000MW for nearly a day. Subsequently, we will scale down generation to 900MW as per the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) stipulations," site director R S Sundar said.

>> In the coming days, the unit 1 will generate less than 1000MW and after some dynamic tests are conducted, the plant will apply for permission from the AERB to maintain the power generation at 1000MW.

>>  "The formal commissioning will be decided by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) authorities after we maintain the generation at 1000MW continuously for a specified period," said Sundar.

>> The final milestone should have been reached a few days earlier but for the shutdown in unit 1 due to some technical problems. For nearly 10 days the unit was not generating power and it was re-started only on June 4.

June 5- World Environment Day| Raise your voice .. not the sea level is the theme for 2014

>> World Environment Day ('WED') is celebrated every year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

>> World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Another resolution, adopted by the General Assembly the same day, led to the creation of UNEP.

>> World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

>> World Environment Day 2014 theme is "Raise your voice ... not the sea level".

>> In support of the UN designation of 2014 as the International Year of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), WED this year will adopt SIDS in the broader context of climate change as its theme. The main objectives are to help build momentum towards the Third International Conference on SIDS , which will be held in September in Apia, Samoa, and encourage a greater understanding of the importance of SIDS and of the urgency to help protect the islands in the face of growing risks and vulnerabilities, particularly as a result of climate change. WED will be an excellent opportunity to raise a call for solidarity with the islands.

Country's first Post Office Savings Bank ATM opened in Chennai

>> The country's first Post Office Savings Bank ATM was inaugurated in Chennai on Thursday by Finance Minister P Chidambaram as part of the government's Rs 4,909 crore IT modernisation scheme for the Department of Posts.

>> After launching the ATM service at Thiyagaraya Nagar Head Post Office (HPO), Chidambaram said that Rs 4,909 crore had been allocated for the IT modernisation of Department of Posts in the interim budget for 2014-15. "The IT modernisation scheme is aimed at making Department of Posts a completely technology-oriented one and today's initiative is a step in that regard," he said.

>> The IT modernisation scheme would cover 1.55 lakh Post offices and would be implemented by next year, he added. Speaking about the newly launched ATM service at the HPO, Chidambaram said that while it will initially operate in a closed environment for about six months, it will later change to 'inter-operability,' on the lines of bank ATMs, allowing customers to withdraw money from any ATM.

>> About Department of Posts, Chidambaram said that while questions were being raised about its future, especially in the wake of dip in use of letters and postcards, it was adopting new strategies and was therefore on the growth path.

>>  Still a large number of people believe that Department of Posts is the best in courier and parcel delivery areas, he added. An official release said the T Nagar HPO ATM is the first in the country and "four more ATMs are ready for operations" in Delhi and Mumbai. "It is proposed to install 1,000 ATMs across the country in 2014.

>> Another 1,800 ATMs will be added in 2015," it said. It added that Rs 700 crore has been earmarked for implementing Core Banking Solution (CBS) for Post office Savings Bank.

>> As on date, 51 HPOs and 11 Sub-post offices have "migrated" covering 64 lakh accounts. By March 31, 2014, a total of 700 more post offices will be covered and all 26,840 post offices will be functional under CBS in another two years, it said.

Odia gets classical language status

>> Odia on Thursday became the sixth language of the country to get “classical language’’ status after the Union Cabinet conceded a long-pending demand for putting it in the same league as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

>> Odia is billed as the first language from the Indo-Aryan linguistic group and the case for making it a classical language was also premised on the fact that it has no resemblance to Hindi, Sanskrit, Bengali and Telugu. The proposal was moved by the Culture Ministry.

>> Once a language is declared classical,
1) It gets financial assistance for setting up a centre of excellence for the study of that language and also opens up an avenue for two major awards for scholars of eminence.
2) University Grants Commission can be requested to create – to begin with at least in Central Universities – a certain number of professional chairs for classical languages for scholars of eminence in the language.

>> The criteria for declaring a language as classical mandates high antiquity of its early texts/recorded history over a period of 1,500-2,000 years, a body of ancient literature/texts which is considered a valuable heritage by generations of speakers and a literary tradition that is original and not borrowed from another speech community.

>> Also since the classical language and literature is distinct from the modern, there can also be a discontinuity between the classical language and its later forms or its offshoots.

Facebook to buy WhatsApp message service for $19 billion

>> Facebook Inc will buy fast-growing mobile-messaging startup WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock in a landmark deal that places the world's largest social network closer to the heart of mobile communications and may bring younger users into the fold.

>> The transaction involves $4 billion in cash, $12 billion in stock and $3 billion in restricted stock that vests over several years. The WhatsApp deal is worth more than Facebook raised in its own IPO and underscores the social network's determination to win the market for messaging.

>> Founded by a Ukrainian immigrant who dropped out of college, Jan Koum, and a Stanford alumnus, Brian Acton, WhatsApp is a Silicon Valley startup fairy tale, rocketing to 450 million users in five years and adding another million daily.

>>"No one in the history of the world has ever done something like this," Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said on a conference call on Wednesday. Zuckerberg, who famously closed a $1 billion deal to buy photo-sharing service Instagram over a weekend in mid-2012, revealed on Wednesday that he proposed the tie-up over dinner with CEO Koum just 10 days earlier, on the night of Feb. 9.

>> WhatsApp was the leader among a wave of smartphone-based messaging apps that are now sweeping across North America, Asia and Europe. Although WhatsApp has adhered strictly to its core functionality of mimicking texting, other apps, such as Line in Japan or Tencent Holdings Ltd's WeChat, offer games or even e-commerce on top of their popular messaging features.

>> The deal provides Facebook entree to new users, including teens who eschew the mainstream social networks but prefer WhatsApp and rivals, which have exploded in size as private messaging takes off.

>> "People are calling them 'Facebook Nevers,'" said Jeremy Liew, a partner at Lightspeed and an early investor in Snapchat.

How the service will pay for itself is not yet clear.

>> Zuckerberg and Koum on the conference call did not say how the company would make money beyond a $1 annual fee, which is not charged for the first year. "The right strategy is to continue to focus on growth and product," Zuckerberg said.

>> Zuckerberg and Koum said that WhatsApp will continue to operate independently, and promised to continue its policy of no advertising.

>> "Communication is the one thing that you have to use daily, and it has a strong network effect," said Jonathan Teo, an early investor in Snapchat, another red-hot messaging company that flirted year ago with a multibillion dollar acquisition offer from Facebook.

>> "Facebook is more about content and has not yet fully figured out communication."

Know about 'Polar Vortex'- 2014's Trending Word in News and Social media

>> In past few days the words ‘Polar Vortex’ and ‘arctic blast’ are trending in news and social media all over. Weather experts are arguing about the expansion of Arctic cold air and the beginning of ‘global cooling’ on earth. However it is debatable as what it has to do with the climate change.

>> So what really is the ‘Polar Vortex’ and how does it occur? A Polar Vortex is an enormous system of strong and swirling air normally moving counter clock wise around the northern pole, usually in two areas: Canada's Baffin Island and northeast Siberia. It generally contains polar cold air, otherwise known as a polar low-pressure system.

>> The wind within the vortex is the locking system that hinders the bitter cold air to spread beyond the Arctic Circle. But occasionally the polar vortex takes a break and leaves the Northern Hemisphere and starts moving toward south. And once the vortex is distorted it generates a jet stream which moves towards the southern latitudes and brings along the bone-chilling Arctic air.

>> The Polar Vortex cannot be classified as an ice storm as it can get distorted and plunge farther south spilling cold air all across. Otherwise known as the Arctic Oscillation, the Vortex has an inclination of bringing in major cold outbreaks on its way. This is the reason why people are perhaps experiencing sort of ‘Ice age’ in US and Canada.

>> The polar vortex generally affects places that come under the Northern Hemisphere including North America, Europe and Asia. Once the Vortex is anchored, the upper-level disturbance merges and starts dipping towards the south west and therefore unleashes an ‘Arctic blast’ towards South and East. And once it completely sets in, the central, southern and eastern parts of the US turns into a deep freeze.

>> Weather experts categorically warn people to keep themselves indoor as the temperature can nosedive way below sub-zero and the air chill too can reach -60 degree. Such extreme weather can freeze bare skin within 5 minutes which is why people are being advised to wear layers of clothing while venturing outside.

>> The combination of bitter cold air and strong winds will generate low wind chill resulting in frostbite and also causes hypothermia or death. Frostbite commonly affects the fingers, toes, ear lobes and the nose while in separate cases it leads to amputation of limbs if not treated in time.

>> Bone-chilling wind can also cause hypothermia where the body temperature dives down to lowest and freezes the heart. The bitter wind chill turns the air fatally chilling and cools thing really fast though it takes time to freeze. Mostly animals and bird fall prey to the unusually cold climate.

>> Extreme cold condition can also damage car batteries and can decrease the battery life of mobile phones.

>> Deep freeze condition can also cause power outage and water pipes to get frozen and then burst adding to woos of the people and the administration. The stubborn cold weather has resulted in cancellation of more than 1000 flights apart from hindering the bus and rail services.

>> Experts are arguing about whether the event is a side effect of global warming or not as the ‘Arctic blast’ is a result of an extreme distortion of the jet stream resulting in wider areas getting the cold pinch. But the ‘Polar Vortex’ never lasts long as it tends to return home back to the Northern Hemisphere.

Nelson Mandela is no more....

Nelson Mandela is no more....

>>  South African anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela died aged 95 at his Johannesburg home on Thursday after a prolonged lung infection, plunging his nation and the world into mourning for a man hailed by global leaders as a moral giant.

>> Although Mandela had been frail and ailing for nearly a year, Zuma's announcement late on Thursday of the death of the former president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate shook South Africa.

>> Tributes began flooding in almost immediately for a man who was an iconic global symbol of struggle against injustice and of racial reconciliation.

>> US President Barack Obama said the world had lost "one of the most influential, courageous and profoundly good human beings that any of us will share time with on this earth".

>> PM Manmohan Singh said, "A giant among men has passed away. This is as much India's loss as South Africa's. He was a true Gandhian. His life and work will remain a source of eternal inspiration for generations to come. I join all those who are praying for his soul."

>> British Prime Minister David Cameron called Mandela "a hero of our time" and said "a great light has gone out in the world".

>> A somber Zuma made a national broadcast to announce the death of South Africa's first black president, who emerged from 27 years in apartheid prisons to help guide Africa's biggest economy through bloodshed and turmoil to democracy.

>> Mandela rose from rural obscurity to challenge the might of white minority apartheid government - a struggle that gave the 20th century one of its most respected and loved figures

>> He was among the first to advocate armed resistance to apartheid in 1960, but was quick to preach reconciliation and forgiveness when the country's white minority began easing its grip on power 30 years later.

>> He was elected president in landmark all-race elections in 1994 and retired in 1999.

Isro's Mars Orbiter Mission successfully placed in Mars transfer trajectory

Isro's Mars Orbiter Mission successfully placed in Mars transfer trajectory

>> Crossing a major milestone in the country's space history, Isro's Mars Orbiter Mission on Sunday ventured out of Earth's sphere of influence for the first time in an attempt to reach the red planet's orbit.

>> The critical manoeuvre to place the Mars orbiter spacecraft in the Mars transfer trajectory was successfully carried out almost an hour past midnight.

>> During this manoeuvre, which began at 00:49 hours, the spacecraft's 440 Newton liquid engine was fired for about 22 minutes providing a velocity increment of 648 metres/second to the spacecraft.

>> "Following the completion of this manoeuvre, the Earth orbiting phase of the spacecraft ended. The spacecraft is now on a course to encounter Mars after a journey of about 10 months around the Sun," the Bangalore-headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation said in a statement.

>> Isro performed the trans-Mars injection, a "crucial event" intended for hurling its Mars orbiter spacecraft into the planned orbit around the Sun, marking the first step towards the 300 day voyage to reach the orbit of the red planet after crossing roughly 680 million kilometres.

>> Isro has planned four mid-course corrections in case of any deviation along its path to the Martian orbit.

>> The space agency is scheduled to make four corrections in the course of the spacecraft's voyage to Mars before it is expected to reach the orbit of the red planet in September 2014.

>> It had performed five orbit-raising manoeuvres on its Mars Orbiter, raising the apogee (farthest point from Earth) of the spacecraft to over 1.92 lakh kilometres, before it performed the "mother of all slingshots".

>> The spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Spacecraft Control Centre at Isro Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bangalore with support from Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) antennae at Byalalu, the space agency added.

>> Isro's PSLV C 25 successfully injected the 1,350-kg 'Mangalyaan' Orbiter (Mars craft) into the orbit around the earth some 44 minutes after a text book launch at 2.38 PM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on November 5, marking the successful completion of the first stage of the Rs 450-crore mission.

"Banking on women"- Read Editorial of The Hindu on Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB)

"Banking on women"- Read Editorial of The Hindu on Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB)

To the long list of 28 public sector banks in India, one more was added with the inauguration of the Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB) on Tuesday by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The bank is unique in more ways than one. It will focus predominantly on women, apart from being staffed largely by them. To the BMB will go the distinction of being the first-ever public sector bank to have been set up by the government, as the others came into being through nationalisation of existing private banks. Women, who constitute about half the country’s population, account for 80 per cent lower per capita credit compared to men. This is largely because they are unable to offer collateral for borrowings given that property is invariably held in the name of the father, husband or son. That there is a gender bias in banking services is clear. It was precisely this that led to the creation of women's cooperative banks such as the Shri Mahila Sewa Sahakari Bank Ltd. which extended financial support to self-employed women in the unorganised sector. Yet, it is not clear if an all-new, full-service bank is the way to get more women into the financial system. Could not the same objective have been achieved through the existing public sector banks that have an extensive network in rural areas, where financial exclusion of women is the most acute?

The BMB will face the same issues as other public sector banks; if anything, it will be handicapped even more by the fact that it is a start-up operation. For example, if the bank is to be commercially viable, it needs an extensive network in the cities where it can attract deposits, but its lending focus has to be in the rural areas where women are marginalised. How does it solve this network dilemma? In the first year of operations at least, the bank will be opening branches only in the cities. The initial year or two will largely determine if the concept of the BMB will be a success. The bank will have to conceive and devise innovative products that will encourage women to bank with it. The bank has already indicated that it will offer higher deposit rates to attract savings bank customers, but this should not result in pushing up lending rates. It will have to tailor products for the unorganised sector where lending is largely without collateral. The bank is likely to be hamstrung in recruiting experienced staff; public sector banks are reported to be facing a staff shortage. Even assuming that staff from other banks can be attracted by means of promotions and higher salaries, it is doubtful if they will agree to move to rural branches. How well the BMB handles these challenges is what will decide if the idea will be a success — or if the BMB will turn out to be just another public sector bank.

Bharatiya Mahila Bank inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

Bharatiya Mahila Bank inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

>> Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the first branch of Bharatiya Mahila Bank today in the iconic Air India building at Nariman Point in Mumbai with an area of 5,000 sq ft space on the ground floor.

>> UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was also present at the inaugural ceremony. Sonia Gandhi said that this was an appropriate tribute to the memory of Indira Gandhi, former prime minister on her birth anniversary.

>> Finance Minister P.Chidambaram recollected the promise he had made in his budget speech earlier this year to start a bank for women. Complimenting the start-up team that was guided by M.B.N.Rao, former chairman and managing director, Canara Bank, Chidambaram said that from today, the board of directors of the bank would be a 8-member all-women board. He hoped that the bank would remain not merely a symbol but the substance of empowerment of women.

>> The bank, which is the first bank started in the public sector space by an Act of Parliament (other banks in public sector were nationalised in two tranches in 1969 and 1980) begins with a capital base of Rs 1,000 crore.

>> The bank is being started with seven branches ( Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow) initially. This will soon be followed by two other branches at Delhi and Indore – the delay is in deference to the elections being held there. The bank plans to reach a branch size of 25 in the next four months and thereafter add about 75 banks every year. In due course, overseas branches too will be opened, Chidambaram said.

>> The all-women’s bank will predominantly serve women, though deposits will be taken from men too. The credit growth is expected to be at a compounded annual growth rate of 16.5 per cent during the 2010-2030, while the deposit growth is expected to stay at 14.6 per cent for the 20 years period,” Chidamabarm said at the inauguration of the Bhartiya Mahila Bank on the eve of former and India’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's birth anniversary.

>> Usha Ananthasubramanian, who was the Executive Director of Punjab National bank, will be the Chairperson of the bank.

>> According to the Finance Minister, only 28 per cent of the women in India have admitted of have opened a bank account and the per capita credit to women is 80 per cent lower. The all-women’s bank will focus on centres where working women population is significant, including self-help groups.

Sachin Tendulkar’s Emotional Retirement Speech....

Sachin Tendulkar’s adieu Speech....

Download as PDF- Click Here
Friends...Here is the final words to his fans by Sachin Tendulkar after retiring from International Cricket by winning the Test Series against West Indies 2-0.

'All my friends, settle down let me talk, I'll get more and more emotional.'The crowd does berserk out there.'My life between 22 yards in the 24 years, it's hard to believe that it's coming to an end. I would like to thank all the people who have helped me in my life to get here. I have a list in my hand, please forgive me if I miss out on a few names.

First, my father, he passed away in 1999. He was very key for my career. he gave me freedom, chase your dreams and don't find shortcuts. He also told me to be a nice human being. My mother, I don't how she dealt with such a naughty like guy me. She took care of me to be healthy. She started praying for me even before I started my career and I think those prayers gave my strength. In my school days, I used to stay with my uncle and aunt as my school was far away. They treated me like their son. They gave me enough food that I can play well. My eldest brother, he used to tell me, I know you'd do everything right and I have the confidence in you. My sister, she gave my the first bat for me. A Kashmir Willow bat. She continues to fast when I bat.

Ajit, I don't what do I talk about him. It all started from the age of 11, he took to Achrekar sir my coach. And my life changed. Even last night, he called me and we were discussing my dismissal. Various things we agreed upon, my technique. I have had a lot of chat with him. If I had not done that, I would have been a lesser cricketer. The most important one in 1991, I met my wife Anjali. I know she was a doctor. When we decided to make it a family, she said, you continue with your cricket and I'll take care of the family. Without that I think I couldn't have played so much cricket. Thank you for all that you've done and it is the best partnership I've had in my life.

Then Sara and Arjun are two precious diamonds in my life. Daughter is 16 and son is 14, time has flown by. I wasn't able to be with them for the birthdays, annaul days and stuff. Thanks for understanding all that, both of you have been so special to me. I've not spent enough time with you but I promise you the rest is for you. My in-laws have been supporting. I discuss various things with them, we have a strong family and thank you for allowing me to marry Anjali. There have been a lot of friends who have supported me. Leaving their work and coming to bowl at me when I called them.

I thought my career was over when I was injured, by my friends called even at 3 AM and made me believe that it was not over. My career started at 11. My brother took me to Achrekar sir and that is the best to have happened to me. Sir would be taking me on his scooter all over Mumbai to ensure that I get enough match practice. On a lighter note, he's never said well played to me so that I don't get complacent.'

'My cricket started right here at this ground. The dream was obviously to play for India. BCCI was fantastic, they believed my at the of 16 years and selected me. Thanks for the support and the freedom, without that this couldn't have happened. I have played with many senior cricketers, thanks to everyone for helping me out. I see, Rahul, Laxman, Sourav and my teamates, you guys are like my family. It is going to be difficult without that dressing room, sharing those special moments.'

'When Dhoni gave me the 200th Test cap, I just said, we are all proud to be here as a team and I believe that you guys will take care of this country in the right spirit to the best of our abilities. I believe in you and all the best for your future. Thanks to all the doctors, physios, without your special efforts, I couldn't have been fit. I don't know how you all kept me in good shape. My dear friend, late Mark Mascerenhas, my first manager. Without him I couldn't have achieved all this. All those sponsorship deals etc.. thanks for your support. I miss you. My manager Vinod Naidu, he's more like my family. He's given me so much time leaving his family to work with him. In the school days when I played well, the media backed be a lot. You've been doing that till now. Thank you to all of you, all those photographers. Those moments will remain with me for the career.

I thank all the people who supported me a lot. Whether I scored a 0 or a 100. I've met a lot of people who does all sorts of things for me, thank you for all that you've done. Especially,'Sachin... Sachin..'that will be ringing in my ears till I breath. Thank you very much. I am sorry if I have missed out on anything. Good bye.'

Sachin Tendulkar has been the most complete batsman of his time, the most prolific runmaker of all time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon the game has ever known. His batting is based on the purest principles: perfect balance, economy of movement, precision in stroke-making, and that intangible quality given only to geniuses - anticipation. If he doesn't have a signature stroke - the upright, back-foot punch comes close - it is because he is equally proficient at each of the full range of orthodox shots (and plenty of improvised ones as well) and can pull them out at will.

There are no apparent weaknesses in Tendulkar's game. He can score all around the wicket, off both front foot and back, can tune his technique to suit every condition, temper his game to suit every situation, and has made runs in all parts of the world in all conditions.

Some of his finest performances have come against Australia, the overwhelmingly dominant team of his era. His century as a 19-year-old on a lightning-fast pitch at the WACA is considered one of the best innings ever to have been played in Australia. A few years later he received the ultimate compliment from the ultimate batsman: Don Bradman confided to his wife that Tendulkar reminded him of himself.

Blessed with the keenest of cricket minds, and armed with a loathing for losing, Tendulkar set about doing what it took to become one of the best batsmen in the world. His greatness was established early: he was only 16 when he made his Test debut. He was hit on the mouth by Waqar Younis but continued to bat, in a blood-soaked shirt. His first Test hundred, a match-saving one at Old Trafford, came when he was 17, and he had 16 Test hundreds before he turned 25. In 2000 he became the first batsman to have scored 50 international hundreds, in 2008 he passed Brian Lara as the leading Test run-scorer, and in the years after, he went past 13,000 Test runs 30,000 international runs, and 50 Test hundreds.

He currently holds the record for most hundreds in both Tests and ODIs - remarkable, considering he didn't score his first ODI hundred till his 79th match. Incredibly, he retains a divine enthusiasm for the game: at 36 years and 306 days he broke a 40-year-old barrier by scoring the first double-century in one-day cricket. In 2012, when just one month short of his 39th birthday, he became the first player to score 100 international centuries, which like Bradman's batting average, could be a mark that lasts for ever. Later that year, though, he announced his retirement from ODIs after a disappointing 18 months in international cricket. In October 2013, having played 198 Tests, Tendulkar announced that he would quit the longest format after playing his 200th Test, at home against West Indies.

Tendulkar's considerable achievements seem greater still when looked at in the light of the burden of expectations he has had to bear from his adoring but somewhat unreasonable followers, who have been prone to regard anything less than a hundred in each innings as a failure. The aura may have dimmed, if only slightly, as the years on the international circuit have taken their toll on the body, but Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshipped cricketer in the world.
