‘KBC 7’ to be launched with changes

There will be four questions in the new feature "Sapta koti sandook" that will let contestants win from Rs1 crore to Rs 3 crore, Rs 5 crore and finally Rs 7 crore.

The 'Fastest finger first' round has been modified. It will now be called 'Best out of three'. And that's not all. Instead of four, there will be five lifelines to help the contestants. The latest addition is "power paplu". It will revive any lifeline which has already been used by the contestant.

Along with modifications in the game, the show's set has also been changed. "It has been shifted from Filmcity in Goregaon to Yash Raj Films studio in Andheri West. The infrastructure is better," Siddhartha Basu, Chairman and Managing Director of Big Synergy Media Ltd., said.

In the sixth season of the show, a jackpot question posed after a participant had won Rs 1 crore, enabled them to win Rs 5 crore. But that is now said to have been raised to Rs 7 crore for the forthcoming edition. As earlier Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan will host of the show. The 70-year-old has so far hosted five seasons of the show, barring the third edition, which saw superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the quizmaster's seat. The show, based on international quiz show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", started in 2000.

This year, the show's marketing campaign is centred around the importance of learning. Its tagline reads: "Seekhna bandh toh jeetna bandh (No learning means no winning)".

The show will go on air on Sony Entertainment Television on September 6.

1) India's first defense satellite GSAT-7 launched successfully from Kourou in South America on a European Ariane 5 launcher.

2) India reached finals of 9th Asia Cup Hockey tournament after defeating Malaysia 2-0 in the semifinal. India will play South Korea in the summit clash on 01 September 2013.  With this win India assured of a berth in next year's World Hockey Cup in Netherland. With the loss to Korea in semi, it will also be the first time Pakistan will not feature in the World Cup since it started in Barcelona back in 1971.

29 August:

1) National Sports Day celebrated across India. It was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand.

2) The Land Acquisition Bill passed in Lok Sabha. Most important feature of the bill is that it requires developers to get the consent of up to 80 per cent of people whose land is acquired for private projects. For public-private partnerships, the approval of 70 per cent of landowners is mandatory.

2) Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal arrested near India-Nepal Border.

3) Government has set up a 7-member Tax Administration Reform Commission (TARC) which will be headed by Parthasarathi Shome.

19 August:

3) A train killed at least 35 pilgrims crossing a railway track in Dhamara station, 180 km east of Patna, the capital of Bihar.

18 August:

1) Countdown for launch of GSLV-D5 begins. It will be launched at 4.50pm on 19 August 2013 and will carry telecommunication satellite GSAT-14. The launch is crucial for the nation due to use of an indigenous cryogenic engine as the upper stage. The first attempt to use an indigenous cryogenic engine on April 15, 2010 to power GSLV-D3 was a failure.

3) Usain Bolt won his third gold medal of the 14th IAAF World Championships when he led Jamaica to the gold in the 4 x100 metres relay.

4) A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's new book “My Journey: Transforming Dreams into Actions”, published by Rupa. In his new book he says that he failed in his dream of becoming pilot.

5) Usain Bolt equalled the record for the most gold medals in world championship.  It was his eighth world gold medal when he anchored the Jamaican 4x100m relay team to victory. It means Bolt has joined American women’s 200m specialist Allyson Felix, and retired US track stars Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson who, including relays, have all won eight world championship gold medals.

17 August:

2) Korea, Congo, Bahrain also celebrated their Independence Day.  Independence Dates: North Korea achieved on 15th August 1945, South Korea achieved on 15th August 1945, Congo achieved on 15th August 1960, and Bahrain achieved independence on 15th August 1971.
