AB de Villiers re-writes century records
* South Africa batsman AB de Villiers hit a
century off 31 balls to record the fastest ever one-day international ton. De
Villiers, 30, set the new landmark during an innings of 149 against the West
Indies in Johannesburg.
Here are the records born in the match:
1) Fastest Fifty: AB
de Villiers by reaching his fifty (half century) in 16 balls, reset the world
record in the name of Sanath Jayasuriya. Jayasuriya scored 50 off 17 balls
against Pakistan in 1996.
2) Fastest International Hundred: AB de Villiers
hit the century off just 31 balls. He bettered the previous ODI record of
hundred in 36 balls by New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson against West
Indies last year. (Chris Gayle's 100 from 30 balls in the Indian Premier League
in April 2013 is the fastest century in cricket history).
3) Most Sixes in an ODI: AB de Villiers smashed
16 sixes in his innings of 149 off 44 balls. He equalled the record held by
Rohit Sharma during his innings of 209 against Australia in 2013.
4) Most hundreds in an ODI innings: Three
hundreds been scored in one ODI innings. Rilee Rossouw (128), Hashim Amla (153
not out) and AB de Villiers(149) have scored centuries in this match.
5) Second highest ODI score: South Africa’s 439-2
is the biggest score against a full member of the ICC. The overall record, 443
by Sri Lanka against the Netherlands (an associate member) in 2006.
6) Fastest Partnership: Hashim Amla and AB de
Villiers added 192 runs off 67 balls for the second wicket, which is the
fastest century partnership scored against a full ICC member.
7) Fastest Strike Rate: AB de Villiers had a
strike rate of 338.63 in his innings. Nobody in ODIs had passed a hundred runs
at a strike-rate above 300 before.

Sachin Tendulkar’s Emotional Retirement Speech....
Sachin Tendulkar’s adieu Speech....
Download as PDF- Click Here
'All my friends, settle down let me talk,
I'll get more and more emotional.'The crowd does berserk out there.'My life
between 22 yards in the 24 years, it's hard to believe that it's coming to an
end. I would like to thank all the people who have helped me in my life to get
here. I have a list in my hand, please forgive me if I miss out on a few names.
First, my father, he passed away in 1999.
He was very key for my career. he gave me freedom, chase your dreams and don't
find shortcuts. He also told me to be a nice human being. My mother, I don't
how she dealt with such a naughty like guy me. She took care of me to be
healthy. She started praying for me even before I started my career and I think
those prayers gave my strength. In my school days, I used to stay with my uncle
and aunt as my school was far away. They treated me like their son. They gave
me enough food that I can play well. My eldest brother, he used to tell me, I
know you'd do everything right and I have the confidence in you. My sister, she
gave my the first bat for me. A Kashmir Willow bat. She continues to fast when
I bat.
Ajit, I don't what do I talk about him. It
all started from the age of 11, he took to Achrekar sir my coach. And my life
changed. Even last night, he called me and we were discussing my dismissal.
Various things we agreed upon, my technique. I have had a lot of chat with him.
If I had not done that, I would have been a lesser cricketer. The most
important one in 1991, I met my wife Anjali. I know she was a doctor. When we
decided to make it a family, she said, you continue with your cricket and I'll
take care of the family. Without that I think I couldn't have played so much
cricket. Thank you for all that you've done and it is the best partnership I've
had in my life.
Then Sara and Arjun are two precious
diamonds in my life. Daughter is 16 and son is 14, time has flown by. I wasn't
able to be with them for the birthdays, annaul days and stuff. Thanks for
understanding all that, both of you have been so special to me. I've not spent
enough time with you but I promise you the rest is for you. My in-laws have
been supporting. I discuss various things with them, we have a strong family
and thank you for allowing me to marry Anjali. There have been a lot of friends
who have supported me. Leaving their work and coming to bowl at me when I
called them.
I thought my career was over when I was
injured, by my friends called even at 3 AM and made me believe that it was not
over. My career started at 11. My brother took me to Achrekar sir and that is
the best to have happened to me. Sir would be taking me on his scooter all over
Mumbai to ensure that I get enough match practice. On a lighter note, he's
never said well played to me so that I don't get complacent.'
'My cricket started right here at this
ground. The dream was obviously to play for India. BCCI was fantastic, they
believed my at the of 16 years and selected me. Thanks for the support and the
freedom, without that this couldn't have happened. I have played with many
senior cricketers, thanks to everyone for helping me out. I see, Rahul, Laxman,
Sourav and my teamates, you guys are like my family. It is going to be
difficult without that dressing room, sharing those special moments.'
'When Dhoni gave me the 200th Test cap, I
just said, we are all proud to be here as a team and I believe that you guys
will take care of this country in the right spirit to the best of our
abilities. I believe in you and all the best for your future. Thanks to all the
doctors, physios, without your special efforts, I couldn't have been fit. I
don't know how you all kept me in good shape. My dear friend, late Mark
Mascerenhas, my first manager. Without him I couldn't have achieved all this.
All those sponsorship deals etc.. thanks for your support. I miss you. My
manager Vinod Naidu, he's more like my family. He's given me so much time
leaving his family to work with him. In the school days when I played well, the
media backed be a lot. You've been doing that till now. Thank you to all of
you, all those photographers. Those moments will remain with me for the career.
I thank all the people who supported me a
lot. Whether I scored a 0 or a 100. I've met a lot of people who does all sorts
of things for me, thank you for all that you've done. Especially,'Sachin...
Sachin..'that will be ringing in my ears till I breath. Thank you very much. I
am sorry if I have missed out on anything. Good bye.'
End of Sachin Era!!!!!
End of Sachin Era!!!!!
Curtain came down on Sachin Tendulkar's
storied Cricket career. The most respected person the Game of Cricket ever had.
He has almost all the records under his name.. Our generation is truely blessed
to see the GOD OF CRICKET playing in Indian Tri Colour... Thank you Sachin..You
made us Love Cricket.. Watch Cricket...
The Spectacular Performances you
presented for us will always be remembered and cherished by us....
"If Cricket is our
religion...You are our God"....
Sachin Tendulkar has been the most complete batsman of his time, the most prolific runmaker of all time, and arguably the biggest cricket icon the game has ever known. His batting is based on the purest principles: perfect balance, economy of movement, precision in stroke-making, and that intangible quality given only to geniuses - anticipation. If he doesn't have a signature stroke - the upright, back-foot punch comes close - it is because he is equally proficient at each of the full range of orthodox shots (and plenty of improvised ones as well) and can pull them out at will.
There are no apparent weaknesses in Tendulkar's game. He can score all around the wicket, off both front foot and back, can tune his technique to suit every condition, temper his game to suit every situation, and has made runs in all parts of the world in all conditions.
Some of his finest performances have come against Australia, the overwhelmingly dominant team of his era. His century as a 19-year-old on a lightning-fast pitch at the WACA is considered one of the best innings ever to have been played in Australia. A few years later he received the ultimate compliment from the ultimate batsman: Don Bradman confided to his wife that Tendulkar reminded him of himself.
Blessed with the keenest of cricket minds, and armed with a loathing for losing, Tendulkar set about doing what it took to become one of the best batsmen in the world. His greatness was established early: he was only 16 when he made his Test debut. He was hit on the mouth by Waqar Younis but continued to bat, in a blood-soaked shirt. His first Test hundred, a match-saving one at Old Trafford, came when he was 17, and he had 16 Test hundreds before he turned 25. In 2000 he became the first batsman to have scored 50 international hundreds, in 2008 he passed Brian Lara as the leading Test run-scorer, and in the years after, he went past 13,000 Test runs 30,000 international runs, and 50 Test hundreds.
He currently holds the record for most hundreds in both Tests and ODIs - remarkable, considering he didn't score his first ODI hundred till his 79th match. Incredibly, he retains a divine enthusiasm for the game: at 36 years and 306 days he broke a 40-year-old barrier by scoring the first double-century in one-day cricket. In 2012, when just one month short of his 39th birthday, he became the first player to score 100 international centuries, which like Bradman's batting average, could be a mark that lasts for ever. Later that year, though, he announced his retirement from ODIs after a disappointing 18 months in international cricket. In October 2013, having played 198 Tests, Tendulkar announced that he would quit the longest format after playing his 200th Test, at home against West Indies.
Tendulkar's considerable achievements seem greater still when looked at in the light of the burden of expectations he has had to bear from his adoring but somewhat unreasonable followers, who have been prone to regard anything less than a hundred in each innings as a failure. The aura may have dimmed, if only slightly, as the years on the international circuit have taken their toll on the body, but Tendulkar remains, by a distance, the most worshipped cricketer in the world.
Here is a look at Sachin's Cricket Stats

India to host 2016 World T20 and 2023 ODI World Cup
India to host 2016
World T20 and 2023 ODI World Cup
It was like a double bonanza for Board of
Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as India would host the World Twenty-20 for
the first time in 2016 and its fourth 50-over World Cup in 2023.
The International Cricket Council (ICC)
also on 29 June 2013 (Saturday) announced its decision to replace the Champions
Trophy - the last edition of which was won by India recently - with the World
Test Championship, the inaugural edition of which will be held in England and
Wales in June-July 2017. Here also India will host the second edition in
February-March 2021. The decisions were taken at the ICC annual conference in
London.
England will also host the 2019 World Cup
and Cricket Australia got the hosting rights of the 2020 World Twenty20. It was
also decided in the conference that full members have to play a minimum of 16
Tests over a four-year period to retain their Test status.
In a novel move, the ICC has also cleared
the decks for the use of flashing LED lights in the bails and stumps in ODIs
and T20s, subject to an "independent assessment of the technology" by
the ICC. Afghanistan was confirmed as the 37th Associate Member of the ICC
while Romania was accepted as an Affiliate Member.
