--> Country's largest private lender
ICICI Bank has on 25 May 2015 launched a service through which customers can
make transactions using just their voice, without using other means of
authentication like a password.
--> The voice recognition service authenticates
customers based on their speech patterns and allows them to execute banking
transactions through the bank's call centre, the bank said in a statement.
--> Normally customer use authentication
like entering card numbers, answering security questions and entering a
personal identification number (PIN) to carry out a phone banking transaction.
--> Now their voice will act as the
password for banking transactions through the call centre and it is secure.
2) Manoj Mishra appointed as CMD of National Fertilizers:
--> Government has appointed Manoj
Mishra as Chairman and Managing Director of state-run National Fertilizers Ltd
(NFL).
--> Mishra, currently posted as Director
Finance at State Trading Corporation (STC), is likely to assume the charge of

5) Bank staff to get 15% wage hike:

Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on 25 May 2015 signed a wage agreement with
unions and officers' associations.
--> The revision, applicable with effect
from November 1, 2012, will benefit employees and officers in public sector
banks, old private sector banks and a few foreign banks.
--> The 15% hike would put an extra
burden of Rs 4,725 crore on banks, IBA chairman T M Bhasin said.

PM. Many of you might be still wondering about the pattern of Civil Service
Preliminary Exam this year, as UPSC had made a lot of changes, of late. So in
this post, we are discussing about the pattern of Civil Services Preliminary
Exam 2015. Pattern of Mains Exam will be discussed in another post.
Here are the
important things that you should know about Civil Services Preliminary Exam
2015.
* Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination
2015 will be of objective type.
* The Preliminary Examination will consist
of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum
of 400 marks (200 marks for each paper).
* This examination is meant to serve as a
screening test only; the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the
candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination
will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.
* The number of candidates to be admitted
to the Main Examination will be about twelve to thirteen times the total
approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this
examination.
* Only those candidates who are declared by
the Commission to have qualified in the Preliminary Examination in the year
will be eligible for admission to the Main Examination of that year provided
they are otherwise eligible for admission to the Main Examination.
Scheme and subjects for the Preliminary are as follows:
* The Examination shall comprise of two
compulsory papers of 200 marks each.
* Both the question papers will be of the objective
type (multiple choice questions).
* The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil
Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum
qualifying marks fixed at 33%. The question papers will be set both in Hindi
and English.
* Each paper will be of two hours duration.
* There will be negative marking for
incorrect answers for all questions except some of the questions where the
negative-marking will be inbuilt in the form of different marks being awarded
to the most appropriate and not so appropriate answer for such questions.
* There are four alternatives for the
answers to every question. For each question for which a wrong answer has been
given by the candidate, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question
will be deducted as penalty.
Syllabi for the Preliminary Examination 2015
Preliminary Examination- Paper I - (200 marks)
Duration : Two hours
1) Current events of national and
international importance.
2) History of India and Indian National
Movement.
3) Indian and World Geography - Physical,
Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
4) Indian Polity and Governance -
Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues,
etc.
5) Economic and Social Development -
Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector
initiatives, etc.
6) General issues on Environmental Ecology,
Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialisation.
7) General Science.
Paper
II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
1) Comprehension.
2) Interpersonal skills including
communication skills;
3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability
4) Decision-making and problemsolving
5) General mental ability
6) Basic numeracy (numbers and their
relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation
(charts, graphs,tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
It is mandatory for the candidate to appear
in both the Papers of Civil Services (Prelim) Examination for the purpose of

Friends..As you know Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on 9 May 2015 launched three ambitious social security schemes,
relating to the insurance and pension sector and intended at widening the
process of financial inclusion. The three schemes were "Pradhan Mantri
Suraksha Bima Yojana" (accident insurance), "Pradhan Mantri Jeevan
Jyoti Yojana" (life insurance) and "Atal Pension Yojana". It's
important to keep in mind the features of these schemes as they will surely be
part of upcoming bank exams. Hence today we are going to look into the
important aspects of each schemes, in detail. So starting, in this post we have
chosen the first one "Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana".
1. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
When
announced: In Union Budget 2015-16 presented by Finance Minister
Arun Jaitley in Loksabha on 28 February 2015.
When
launched: 9 May 2015

launched: Prime Minister of India Shri.Narendra Modi

Note: Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
is meant for Accidental Death Insurance. Here are the features of this scheme.
Eligibility: Available to people in age group 18
to 70 years with bank account.
Premium: Rs.12 per annum.
Payment Mode: The premium will be directly
auto-debited by the bank from the subscribers account. This is the only mode
available.
Risk Coverage: For accidental death and full disability -
Rs.2 Lakh and for partial disability – Rs.1 Lakh.
Eligibility: Any
person having a bank account and Aadhaar number linked to the bank account can
give a simple form to the bank every year before 1st of June in order to join
the scheme. Name of nominee to be given
in the form.
Terms of Risk Coverage: A person has to opt for
the scheme every year. He can also prefer to give a long-term option of
continuing in which case his account will be auto-debited every year by the
bank.
Who will implement this Scheme?: The scheme will be offered by all Public
Sector General Insurance Companies and all other insurers who are willing to
join the scheme and tie-up with banks for this purpose.
Government Contribution:
(i)
Various Ministries can co-contribute premium for various categories of
their beneficiaries from their budget or from Public Welfare Fund created in
this budget from unclaimed money. This will be decided separately during the
year.
(ii)
Common Publicity Expenditure will be borne by the Government.
