1) Rohan Bopanna-Florin Mergea duo won Stuttgart Open Tennis title:
--> Indo-Romanian tennis pair of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea clinched the men's doubles title of the 574,965-euro Stuttgart Open on the grass courts of Tennis Club.
--> The fourth seeds took just an hour and 12 minutes to beat Austrian-Brazilian third seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 in the final.
--> This is the second title the two have won together, having won the clay court Madrid Open last month.

2) Comet lander Philae wakes up from hibernation:
--> The comet lander Philae has awakened from a seven-month hibernation and managed to communicate with Earth for more than a minute, the European Space Agency said on 14 June 2015.
--> The probe became the first spacecraft to land on a comet when it touched down on the icy surface of 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko in November 2014.
--> Shortly after its historic landing, Philae managed to conduct experiments and send data to Earth for about 60 hours before its batteries were depleted and it was forced into hibernation.

3) Former Union Minister Sheila Kaul passed away:
--> Former Union Minister Sheila Kaul, a sister-in-law of Jawaharlal Nehru and oldest surviving former parliamentarian died on 14 June 2015.
--> A former Himachal Pradesh Governor, Kaul had been unwell for the past few days.
--> Urban Development Minister in the Narasimha Rao Cabinet, Ms. Kaul was accused of making out-of-turn allotment of government accommodations in return for monetary gain between 1992 and 1995.

4) Bibek Debroy committee on restructuring of Indian Railways submitted its report:
--> The panel on restructuring of the Indian Railways, headed by Mr. Debroy, submitted its final report on 12 June 2015.
--> The committee has set a five-year timeframe for implementing its recommendations and has suggested doing away with the Railway Budget.
--> The committee has suggested measures for restructuring the Railway Board and its departments so that policy making is separated from day-to-day operations.

5) World Blood Donor day observed:
--> World Blood Donor Day was observed across the world on 14 June to raise the public awareness about the need for safe blood donation.
--> The theme of this year’s campaign is "Thank you for saving my life".
--> This year’s campaign encourages donors all over the world to donate blood voluntarily and regularly with the slogan Give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.

6) Govt sets up Rs. 1500-crore nuclear insurance pool:
--> The government has launched an insurance pool to the tune of Rs. 1,500 crore which is mandatory under the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act (CLND).
--> This was announced by Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy Jitendra Singh in New Delhi on 13 June 2015.
--> Under the Rs. 1,500-crore pool, set up by General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) and 11 other non-life insurers including New India, Oriental Insurance, National Insurance and United India Insurance from the public sector apart from private insurance companies, policies offered will be a nuclear operators liability insurance policy and a nuclear suppliers’ special contingency (against right to recourse) insurance policy.

7) Beno Zephine becomes first 100% blind officer in IFS:
--> Beno Zephine, 25-year-old from Chennai has been inducted into the Indian Foreign Service, the first 100 per cent visually-challenged person to gain entry into the 69-year-old service.

8) Robin nominated as United Kingdom’s first-ever national bird:
--> India has the peacock, America has the bald eagle and now Britain has the robin.
--> The red-breasted bird has topped a poll of more than 200,000 people to choose the UK's first national bird, winning a landslide victory.
--> The bird received 34% of votes, followed by the barn owl, which received 12% and the blackbird, 11%.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has published notification for the recruitment of 504 Assistant vacancies in various offices of the Reserve Bank of India.  Selection for the post will be through a country-wide competitive Online Examination and Interview. Further details are as follows:

Schedule of Online Test (Tentative): Various dates in August 2015. Likely to be held on August 1, 8, 9 and 16. However RBI reserves the right to change the dates of examination.

Vacancy Details

RBI Assistant 2015 Vacancy

Age Limit(as on 01.06.2015): Between 18 and 28 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/06/1987 and not later than 01/06/1997 (both days including) are only eligible to apply. Relaxation in the Upper Age Limit applicable for reserved categories.

Educational Qualifications (as on 03.07.2015):

i) At least a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the aggregate and the knowledge of word processing on PC.
ii) A candidate belonging to Ex-servicemen category (except dependants of ex-servicemen) should either be a graduate from a recognized University or should have passed the matriculation or its equivalent examination of the Armed Forces and rendered at least 15 years of defence service.
iii) Candidates applying for post in a particular recruiting office should be proficient in the language (i.e. know to read, write, speak and understand the language) of the state/ any of the states falling under the recruiting office.

Scheme of Selection:

Selection will be through Online Examination and Interview. The Online Examination will be for 200 marks.
1. Test of Reasoning           : 40 Questions : 40 Marks
2. Test of English Language: 40 Questions : 40 Marks
3. Test of Numerical Ability: 40 Questions : 40 Marks
4. Test of General Awareness: 40 Questions : 40 Marks
5. Test of Computer Knowledge: 40 Questions : 40 Marks
Total: 200 Marks: 200 Questions

Note: 1) A candidate has to qualify in each part of the Objective test separately. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.

1) Zimbabwe dollars phased out:
--> Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe said government lead by President Robert Mugabe has decided to discard its virtually worthless national currency.
--> Foreign currencies like the US dollar and South African rand have been used for most transactions since 2009.
--> Hyperflation is what happened in Zimbabwe.
--> Hyperflation is a situation of extremely rapid or out of control inflation. It occurs when there is a large increase in the money supply not supported by gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

2) Andhra Pradesh launched ‘Mee Bhoomi’ digital depository of land records:
--> The Andhra Pradesh government has launched `Mee Bhoomi', a digital depository of land records.
--> The portal, http://meebhoomi.ap.gov.in/, makes all land details along with Adangal/Pahani and 1-B details, available to the people.

3) Suvidha trains with dynamic fare to start in July:
--> Railway Ministry said on 12 June 2015 that Suvidha trains with dynamic fares will be introduced in July to address the rush during peak travel seasons.
--> These trains will have dynamic fare system and authorities said there will not be any downward movement of the fare.
--> Depending upon the demand, these trains may be run during "peak seasons like winter rush, summer rush, Dussehra rush, Holi rush and on other occasions".
--> This category will have three variants viz. Rajdhani, Duronto and the ones like Mail and Express trains.

4) Toy train service resumed in Darjeeling after five years:
--> After a gap of nearly five years, the toy train service has resumed in West Bengal's Darjeeling.
--> The toy train 'Queen of Hills' shuttled on June 12, 2015 between Darjeeling and New Jalpaiguri stations.
--> The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of 88.48 km of narrow gauge track that connects New Jalpaiguri with Darjeeling, passing through Ghum at an altitude of 2258 meters.
--> The toy train service was suspended on September 2010, after a landslide destroyed about 600 meters of road and tracks running parallel to it at the Tindharia town of Darjeeling.

5) Iconic Rock Garden creator Nek Chand passed away:
--> Rock Garden creator and Padma awardee Nek Chand Saini, 90, died on 12 June 2015.
-->  Nek Chand Saini was known all over the world for his unique creation in Chandigarh, the Rock Garden and was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 1984.
--> The Garden was created with used waste and useless articles like old switches, tyres, bicycle parts, bangles, mosaic, etc. from demolition sites around the city.

6) Wes Hall inducted into ICC Hall of Fame:
--> Former West Indies fast bowler Wes Hall was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame during the lunch break on the opening day of the Sabina Park Test between West Indies and Australia on 12 June 2015.
--> He became the fourth cricketer to receive the honour this year after Betty Wilson, Anil Kumble and Martin Crowe.
--> Hall, 77, received his commemorative cap from fellow Hall of Famer Courtney Walsh, and is now the 18th cricketer from the Caribbean to be bestowed with the award.

7) Yahoo to host Mobile Developer Meet in India:
--> Yahoo announced on 12 June 2015 that it will host its mobile developer meet in New Delhi on June 24 and in Bengaluru on June 26.
--> The Yahoo mobile developer suite can help developers build their app businesses, monetise and create better experiences for their users.
