1) PSLV-C31 launched fifth
satellite in IRNSS series from Sriharikota:
--> PSLV-C31 successfully put into orbit
IRNSS-1E, the fifth satellite of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite
System (IRNSS) after its succesful launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre
(SDSC), SHAR, Sriharikota, on 20 January 2016.
--> PSLV-C31 for the eleventh time used
‘XL’ version of PSLV.
--> IRNSS-1E, with a liftoff mass of
1425 kg, carried navigation payload and ranging payload, according to an ISRO
release.
--> IRNSS-1E has configuration similar
to that of its predecessors IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C and 1D in which ISRO used the XL
version of the rocket.
--> The constellation of seven
satellites is planned by ISRO to constitute IRNSS, which would be at par with
US-based GPS once the full complement of spacecrafts are launched.
2) Bihar Cabinet approved 35
percent reservation for women in government jobs:
--> Bihar Cabinet on 19 January 2016
formally approved 35 percent reservation for women in all government jobs in
the state.
--> The decision was taken in the
cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
3) Virat Kohli becomes
fastest to 24th ODI ton, 7000 ODI runs:
--> Virat Kohli became the fastest to
7000 ODI runs during the third ODI against Australia at the MCG. Kohli, in 161
innings, broke AB de Villiers record of
reaching there in 166 innings.
--> Before AB and Kohli, Sourav Ganguly
was the fastest with 174 innings.
--> Kohli also completed his 24th ODI
ton, becoming the fastest to the milestone.
4) LCA Tejas makes history at
Bahrain:
--> History has been created when Light
Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, indigenously designed and developed by Defence
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), touched the foreign soil at
Sakhir Airbase, Bahrain.
--> For the first time LCA Tejas flown
in foreign airspace to participate in the Bahrain International Airshow-2016
during 21 to 23 January 2016.
5) New category in film
awards:
--> The Information & Broadcasting
Ministry has instituted a new category – Most Film Friendly State – in the
National Film Awards.
--> This award will be conferred in the
63rd National Film Awards in May, Sunil Arora, Secretary I&B, said.
6) Mamta Binani elected
President of ICSI:
--> Mamta Binani has been elected
President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for 2016.
--> She took charge on January 19.
7) MRF becomes global partner
for ICC:
--> MRF Ltd has become a global partner
for International Cricket Council (ICC) by signing a four-deal with the council
that includes this year’s ICC World Twenty 20 in India, next year’s ICC
Champions Trophy and ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019.
--> As a global partner, MRF will have
multiple branding opportunities at all match venues during the ICC World Twenty
20 and future ICC events.

first fully organic state after it successfully implemented organic farming

Festival 2016 in Gangtok, Sikkim.

has declared a state of economic emergency to redefine France’s economic and

--> Tata Motors Ltd’s long and expansive
global search for a chief executive officer has ended with the appointment of Guenter
Butschek as CEO and managing director.
--> Butschek, 55, will lead all
operations of Tata Motors in India and in international markets, including
South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa, India’s largest automaker by
revenue said.
--> Jaguar Land Rover, the company’s UK
subsidiary, will continue to be managed by its CEO and director Ralf Speth, who
is also on the board of Tata Motors.

Bank to fund 20 million US dollar for reconstructing Indira Gandhi Zoological
Park:
--> World Bank has recently decided to
extend an assistance of 20 million US dollar to help reconstruct the Indira
Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP), which got devastated during cyclone Hudhud in
October 2014, in Visakhapatnam.
--> It is the very first time in the
history of the World Bank that it is directly involved in a zoo.

long enough for an organ transplant.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ventrapragada Rama Rao passed away in
Hyderabad, Telangana following an illness.
--> Rama Rao was one of the founders of
Jana Sangh (later became BJP) in Andhra Pradesh.

Aayog collaborated with IDFC for Enterprise Survey of Manufacturing Firms:
--> National Institution for
Transforming India (NITI) Aayog on 17 January 2016 announced that it
collaborated with the IDFC Bank Ltd to conduct an enterprise survey of
manufacturing firms.
--> NITI Aayog and IDFC Institute will
jointly conduct a survey of manufacturing companies, including startups, across

written test will consist of (i) 50 questions on General Awareness, General
Intelligence, Reasoning Ability, General Science and (ii) 100 Questions on
Subject concerned.
b) For Junior Translator: The written test
will consist of (i) 50 Questions on General Awareness, General Intelligence,
Reasoning & Numerical Ability and (ii) 50 Questions each on Hindi and
English Language.
c) For Stenographer Grade II, Admin
Assistant ‘A’ & Store Assistant ‘A’ : The written examination will consist
of (i) 50 questions on General Awareness, General Intelligence, Reasoning &
Numerical Ability (ii) 50 questions on General English and (iii) 50 Questions
on Hindi OR English language.
d) For Vehicle Operator ‘A’& Asstt.
Halwai-cum-Cook: The written test will consist of (i) 100 Questions on General
Awareness, General Reasoning, Arithmetic, Numerical Ability (ii) 25 Questions
on General English (iii) 25 Questions related to Job.
Fees
Non-Refundable Application Fee of Rs. 50/-
(Rupees Fifty only) is to be paid by the male candidates of UR and OBC
categories. Candidates belonging to the
SC/ST/PWD/ESM/Woman are exempted from
payment of Application Fee. Fee is to be paid online for online applications
