1) Airbus and Mahindra to make military choppers in India:
--> European aerospace giant Airbus and
India's Mahindra group have inked a deal to jointly build helicopters as the
Indian government moves to upgrade the country's ageing military hardware.
--> The joint venture between Airbus
Helicopters and Mahindra Defence aims to become the "first private Indian
helicopter manufacturer under the 'Make in India' initiative.
--> To be set up in the coming months,
the venture would produce helicopters to meet the country's military
requirements.
2) President of India receives first copy of book 'Uniki':
--> The President of India, Shri Pranab
Mukherjee received the first copy of the book 'Uniki' in Hyderabad on 3 July
2015.
--> The book has been written by Shri Ch
Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra.
--> The President received the book from
Shri K Chandrashekar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana who formally released it.
--> President congratulated Shri Rao for
bringing out this useful compilation of writings and reflections on his life
and experiences.
--> He stated that the title, 'Uniki',
which means Existence, evokes a philosophical view of the issues and events
that have been written about in this book.
3) Keltron founding chairman K P P Nambiar passed away:
--> K P P Nambiar, founding Chairman of
Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keltron) died on 1
July 2015 due to age-related illnesses.
--> Nambiar set up India's first
Electronic Technology Park (Techno Park) in Trivandrum to provide
infrastractural support required to set up high technology electronic units in
the State.
--> He served as Secretary to the
Department of Electronics during late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure.
--> He was awarded Padma Bhushan by
Government of India for his contributions to the field of technology in 2006.
4) BSNL launched mobile wallet service ‘Speed Pay’:
--> BSNL on 3 July 2015 launched a
pre-paid card linked mobile wallet service which would allow its customers to
transfer money, pay for services as well as withdraw cash of up to Rs. 1 lakh.
--> The wallet service, Speed Pay,
allows a customer to load money even if he does not have a bank account. The
money loaded in the mobile wallet can be transferred to a bank account and even
withdrawn at bank branches or BSNL outlets.
--> Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad
inaugurated the service.
5) Nationwide Mobile Number Portability becomes operational:
--> Nationwide mobile number portability
(MNP) has become operational from 3 July 2015.
--> It became operational after major
private mobile operators like Vodafone, RCom, Airtel, Uninor and Idea Cellular
along with state-run BSNL and MTNL issued statements to launch MNP.
--> The operationalisation of nationwide
MNP will allow customers to keep their existing mobile phone numbers while
shifting between States and circles by changing operators.
6) Madhya Pradesh sets world record for hand washing:
--> Guinness Book of World Records has
recognized the record created on world hand washing day in Madhya Pradesh on
October 15, 2014.
--> Information about the record set by
Madhya Pradesh is displayed on official website of Guinness Book.
--> According to Guinness Book, 12,76
,425 students created a new world record through simultaneous hand washing at
programmes held at 13,196 places across the 51 districts of the state.
7) C Ramakrishnan appointed Tata Motors' Group CFO:
--> C Ramakrishnan was appointed on 1
July 2015 as Tata Motors' Group Chief Financial Officer.
--> Tata Motors is the leader in
commercial vehicles in each segment, and among the top in passenger vehicles in

mother-to-child HIV transmission:
--> World Health Organisation has
announced that Cuba has become the first country to eliminate the transmission
of HIV and syphilis from mother to baby.
--> The act of eliminating
mother-to-child transmissions of HIV and syphilis means more than improved
outcomes for the children of infected parties, but it means hope for a cure.
2) Dr Anup K Pujari joined as Secretary, MSME:
--> Dr Anup K Pujari joined as Secretary
Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) .
--> He succeeds Shri Madhav Lal who
superannuated on June, 30 2015.

3) Fazle Hasan Abed, founder of Bangladesh-based poverty
alleviation NGO won World Food Prize 2015:
--> Fazle Hasan Abed of Bangladesh has
been named as the winner of the 2015 World Food Prize.
--> He is founder and chairman of
Bangladesh-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) BRAC (originally known as
Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee) which is world’s largest NGO.
--> Since its formation, BRAC is being
credited for helping more than 150 million people out of poverty.
4) Cost of printing a one-rupee note is Rs 1.14:
--> The cost of printing one rupee note,
which was recently re-introduced after a gap of 20 years, is Rs. 1.14, more
than its value, an RTI query has revealed.
--> The Security Printing and Minting
Corporation of India (SPMCIL), under the central government, said in the RTI
response that the cost is subject to audit, which is in progress, for financial
year 2014-15.
--> The printing of one-rupee notes was
discontinued in 1994 because of high printing cost as compared to their lives.
--> However, the Union Finance Ministry
subsequent to a gazette-notification dated December 16, 2014 ultimately
re-issued one-rupee notes on March 6, 2015 at Shrinathji Temple (Nathdwara),
Rajasthan.
5) Manipur plans to lift ban on liquor sale:
--> Nearly 24 years after prohibition was
imposed in Manipur, the state, for the first time, is planning to lift the ban
on the manufacture and sale of liquor, with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh
tabling a proposal for the same in the Assembly.
--> Speaking in the Assembly, the Chief
Minister said that most states in the country, with the exception of Nagaland
and Manipur, lifted the ban on selling Indian-made Foreign Liquor. After
lifting the ban, all states have experienced a marked increase in revenue
generation.
6) Haryana Government launched ‘Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon’
scheme:
--> Haryana Government launched ‘Mhara
Gaon, Jagmag Gaon’ scheme to provide 24 hour uninterrupted power supply for
rural domestic consumers in a phased manner with their active participation.
--> The scheme was launched by Chief
Minister Manohar Lal Khattar from Dyalpur village of Kurukshetra district.
--> With this launch, Haryana became
first state in the country to provide such an innovative voluntary scheme.
7) Indian-American professor R Paul Singh named for 2015
World Agriculture Prize laureate:
--> R Paul Singh, Indian-American
professor has been selected for 2015 World Agriculture Prize laureate.
--> The award was announced at the
annual Global Confederation for Higher Education Associations for Agriculture
and Life Sciences (GCHERA) conference held at the Holy Spirit University of
Kaslik, Lebanon.
8) Prof. Sanjeev Galande selected for G D Birla Award for
Scientific Research 2014:
--> Prof. Sanjeev Galande has been
selected for the prestigious G D Birla award for Scientific Research 2014.
--> He has been selected for his
significant contribution and his pioneering research in the field of Epigenetics

July 2015 launched the "Digital India Week" as part of the larger
initiative to empower the people and extend services better with the use of

--> The Prime Minister also unveiled a
logo for Digital India, an umbrella programme that seeks to transform India
into a digitally-empowered, knowledge economy with a host of initiatives for a
synchronised and coordinated engagement of the government and its agencies.
2) Greece became first developed nation to default on IMF
debt:
--> Greece became the first advanced
economy to default on an International Monetary Fund (IMF) repayment with its
failure to repay the roughly $1.8bn to the IMF the largest, single missed
repayment in the IMF’s history.
--> The last country to do so was
Zimbabwe in 2001 others are Somalia and Sudan.
3) Afghan prez Ghani nominated first female judge to Supreme
Court:
--> Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has nominated a leading lawyer to become the
country's first ever female Supreme Court judge although this move has angered
some Islamic conservatives.
4) 9th National Statistics Day observed:
--> India on 29 June 2015 observed its
ninth National Statistics Day.
--> Theme for the 9th Statistics Day is
Social Development.
--> The day organised by Ministry of
Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) commemorates the birth
anniversary of late Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis.
5) IDFC appointed former CAG Vinod Rai as independent
director:
--> Infrastructure financing firm IDFC
on 30 June 2015 appointed Vinod Rai, former Comptroller and Auditor General of
India (CAG), as independent director.
--> The appointment has been made with
immediate effect, IDFC said.
--> Rai also worked as Financial
Services Secretary.
--> He was director on several boards
including the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank and Life Insurance
Corporation of India.

6) Facebook Lite for Android launched in India:
--> Social network giant Facebook
launched Facebook Lite, a new version of its application for Android phones in
India.

7) Rahul Agarwal appointed as Managing Director of Lenovo
India:

appointed Rahul Agarwal as the Managing Director (MD) of its India operations.

promoted to regional mandate as Chief operating Officer (COO), Asia Pacific and
Chairman of Lenovo India.
8) J Jayalalithaa launched first phase of Chennai Metro:
--> First phase of Chennai Metro service
was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa after she flagged
off inaugural train.
--> The first phase of Metro service
covers the 10-km overhead (elevated) stretch.
--> It connects Alandur in south Chennai
to Koyabedu in the north.
9) Jwala Gutta, Ashwni Ponappa won women’s doubles title of
Canada Open Badminton tournament:
--> Indian pair of Jwala Gutta and
Ashwni Ponappa won the women’s doubles title of the Canada Open Badminton
tournament.
--> In the finals match played at
Calgary, Canada they defeated Dutch pair of Eefje Muskens and Selena Piek in
straight games of 21-19, 21-16.
--> It is their first title of this
season.
10) Famous Writer Vishwanath Tripathi chosen for 28th Moorti
Devi Award:
--> Veteran Writer Vishwanath Tripathi
was on 27 June 2015 selected for the 28th Moorti Devi Award for the year 2014
for his book Vyomkesh Darvesh.
--> 'Vyomkesh Darvesh' is a fictional
biography of noted Hindi critic Hazariprasad Dwivedi,who is considered doyen of Hindi language.
