Here is the write up updated today(22 July 2014) in SSC Website

Times of India dated 21.7.2014, Delhi Edition has reported about two questions which figured in Combined Graduate Level re-examination 2013 Question Paper.

The Commission has looked into the matter and is of the view that the two questions are improper and should not have been included.  The Commission has already issued instructions that the two questions will not be taken into account for evaluation.

Now coming to the article and the controversial questions. The questions were:

One in General Awareness section ie, Who among the following actresses is the tallest in height [sic]?
(a) Huma Qureshi (b) Katrina Kaif (c) Deepika Padukone (d) Preity Zinta

Other appeared in the General Intelligence and Reasoning section. Two statements were given. First: All women are cats. Second: All cats are rats. Therefore the two possible conclusions are: (a) All women are rats or (b) All rats are women.

Taking strong objection to the questions, the Kerala Women’s Commission had demanded an explanation from the Staff Selection Commission for what it called “gender insensitive” questions for the combined graduate level examination.

Women’s commission chairperson K.C. Rosakutty said “comparing women to animals is unjustified”, adding that it defamed women. She said such trends should not be entertained. Educationist R.V.G. Menon was quoted as saying that the questions reflected the attitude of those who framed them.
