markets:
--> Nestle withdraws popular instant
food Maggi from Indian markets following ban in several states due to reports
of harmful contents in its samples, company says the product will be back as
soon as it clears the environment of doubt.
--> Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Jammu and
Kashmir had already imposed ban on Maggi and the product remains under the
scanner in most states with just a couple of them giving it an all clear.
2) Mission Indradhanush to get 4 new vaccines:
--> Health minister J P Nadda on 4 June
2015 said four new vaccines would be added to the recently launched Mission
Indradhanush — a flagship programme to immunize children against preventable
diseases and improve the infant mortality rate by 2020.
--> The new vaccines, inactivated polio
vaccine, adult Japanese Encephalitis vaccine, Rotavirus vaccine and Measles
Rubella vaccine, have been made part of the ‘India newborn’ action plan.
3) Nobel Prize Winner Irwin Rose passed away:
--> Irwin Rose, a biochemist who shared
the 2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering a way that cells destroy
unwanted proteins the basis for developing new therapies for diseases such as
cervical cancer and cystic fibrosis has died.
4) AB De Villiers conferred with South Africa Cricketer of
the Year Award for 2015:
--> AB De Villiers was on 3 June 2015
conferred with the South Africa (SA) Cricketer of the Year Award for 2015.
--> The award was presented to him at
the 2015 Cricket South Africa Awards presentation ceremony held at Midrand in
South Africa.
5) Delhi Metro gets its first driver-less train from Korea:
--> Delhi Metro on 4 June 2015 received
its first driver-less train, equipped with several advanced features, from a
Korea-based manufacturer, which will ply on sections of Phase-III of the
network.
--> A total of 20 such train sets of
Hyundai Rotem will be manufactured in South Korea’s Changwan.
6) Sundaram Ravi inducted into ICC Elite Panel of Umpires:
--> The International Cricket Council
(ICC) on 4 June 2015 announced the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires for
2015-2016, commencing from 1 July 2015, following the annual review and
selection process.
--> Chris Gaffaney and Sundaram Ravi
have been promoted from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires to the
Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires where they have replaced Billy Bowden and
the retiring Steve Davis.
--> The Emirates Elite Panel of ICC
Umpires for 2015-2016 will be: Aleem Dar, Kumar Dharmasena, Marais Erasmus,
Chris Gaffaney, Ian Gould, Richard Illingworth, Richard Kettleborough, Nigel
Llong, Sundaram Ravi, Paul Reiffel, Rod Tucker and Bruce Oxenford.

Children Victims of Aggression is a United Nations observance each year on 4
June.
--> It was established on 19 August
