  1.  INS Kochi commissioned into Indian Navy:
    --> Indian Navy has commissioned INS Kochi, a Kolkata-class Guided Missile Destroyer in its contingent to showcase India’s indigenous efforts in the field of underwater warfare.
    --> The ship was commissioned by Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in Mumbai.
    --> It is a second ship of the three ships Kolkata-class Guided Missile Destroyer to be inducted.

  2. RBI cuts repo rates by 50 basis points to 6.75%:
    --> Reserve Bank of India on 29 Sept. 2015 cut repo rate by 50 basis points to 6.75%; Cash reserve ratio remains unchanged at 4%; this fourth policy rate cut by RBI this year.
    --> RBI Governor Raghu Ram Rajan has kept CRR unchanged at 4 percent but has made headlines when he slashed policy rate by 0.5 percent to 4-year low of 6.75 percent which means repo rate -- the rate at which the central bank lends to banks -- has been cut by 100 basis points this year.
    --> The surprise move by RBI governor will spell cheer for consumers as it would lead to lower home, auto and other existing and new loans.
  3. NCC gets its name registered in Limca Book of Records:
    --> National Cadet Corps (NCC) on 29 Sept. 2015 was presented with the certificate of Limca Book of Records for the 'Largest Yoga performance’ simultaneously by a single uniformed youth organisation at multiple venues on International Day of Yoga.
  4. Google to provide Wi-Fi in 400 Indian railway stations:
    --> Search engine giant Google has announced to provide high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 Indian railway stations.
    --> To set up public Wi-Fi hotspots, Google is working with the Indian Railways and RailTel, a government-owned provider of telecommunications infrastructure to the railways.

    --> Former England fast bowler Frank Tyson passed away in Australia.
    --> He was renowned as one of the quickest to have ever played in the game of cricket.
    --> He was nicknamed as ‘Typhoon’ for his extreme pace.

  6. Nasa's discovery of water on Mars:
    --> NASA has confirmed that Scientists have found the first evidence that briny water may flow on the surface of Mars during the planet's summer months.
    --> Scientists analyzing data from a NASA spacecraft have found the first evidence that briny water flowed on the surface of Mars as recently as last summer, raising the possibility that the planet could support life.
  7. Abhinav Bindra wins gold in Asian Air Gun Championships:
    --> Former Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra won the men's 10 metre air rifle event at the Asian Air Gun Championship.
    --> Bindra shot 208.8 points to clinch the gold while compatriots Gagan Narang and Chain Singh finished fourth and sixth respectively at the Karni Singh Shooting Range.
  8. India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2015 begins in Pune:
    --> India-Sri Lanka joint military exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2015 has begun at Aundh Military Station in Pune, Maharashtra.
    --> It is third edition of the joint training exercise between both countries that seeks to build Military to Military co-operation and interoperability.
  9.  Governor of Meghalaya V. Shanmuganathan gets additional charge of Manipur:
    --> President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed Governor of Meghalaya V. Shanmuganathan to discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur.
    --> He was given additional charge of Manipur after previous Governor Dr. Syed Ahmed passed away.
  10. Renowned Hindi poet Viren Dangwal passed away:
    --> Hindi poet Viren Dangwal(68-years) passed away in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh after a prolonged illness.
  11. Violinist Prabhakar Jog to be conferred with Lata Mangeshkar Award:
