1) UN celebrates International day of non-violence:
--> United Nations has celebrated the
Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as the International Day of Non-violence at
UN head quarters in New York.
--> The function was organised by the
Permanent Mission of India at the UN Head quarters where a number of Indian and
foreign dignitaries participated in the programme and paid tributes to Mahatma
Gandhi.
--> Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar said
that Gandhi's message of Non violence was universal.
2) Shashank Manohar all set to be elected unopposed as BCCI
president:
--> Shashank Manohar is all set to take
over as the BCCI president at the Board's Special General meeting after
emerging as the only candidate, marking an unusually smooth transition of power
following the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya.
3) Second season of Indian Super League (ISL) kick started:
--> Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's
breathtaking moves complemented A R Rahman's soulful music as the country's
who's who from various fields got together for football to kick off the second
season of Indian Super League (ISL) with a brief opening ceremony in Chennai on
3 October 2015.
4) Postiga stars on debut as ATK beat Chennaiyin FC in ISL
opener:
--> Portuguese striker Helder Postiga
scored twice as defending champions Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) started their
campaign on a winning note beating Chennaiyin FC 3-2 in an exciting lung opener
of the cash-rich Hero Indian Super League (ISL).
--> 45-minute opening ceremony was
attended by, among others, Sachin Tendulkar, Rajinikanth, Mukesh and Nita
